Friday Favorites – Squeeze the Day.

I’m going to start a little monthly series called “Friday Favorites.” It’ll be things that I am most into or excited about that month. This is kind of a funny one, but this month and last I have been super into lemons. Lemon everything. lemon candles, essential oils, cleaning supplies, food, desserts, lemon water in the morning, lotion, literally all the lemon things.

Did you know that the smell of lemons reduces stress? Isn’t that so like God to use something sour for our good?

I could get so metaphorical right now, but let just get into some things I have or love to do with Lemons!

  1. Lemon Candles – Bath & Body Works has some of the BEST lemon scented candles. This one is currently filling our home and I’m obsessed. Don’t you dare pay full price for these candles though. They smell amazing but last 2 seconds. Wait for a sale! Then it’s worth it.
  2. Lemon/Lavender Sugar Scrub- Bryan and I are working on saving more money this year and one way we’re going to do that is by making a lot of gifts for people. I recently got a bunch of mason jars and made a ton of Sugar hand/body Scrubs. To make: 2 cups of coconut oil Epsom Salt, 15 drops of lavender essential oil, 15 drops of lemon essential oil, 1 cup of organic sugar, 2 TBSP of vanilla extract, 1/2 cup of coconut oil. Then I added some blue and red food coloring to make it purple! This stuff is amazing. My hands feel so super soft after I use it.
  3. Lemon Lotion- I really like this one from World Market along with their Lemon Verbena Hand Soap. Ah it smells so fresh.
  4. Freshen trash cans and sink disposals- I peel some rinds and throw them in a stinky trash can or grind them up in a smelling sink disposal. Freshens them right up!
  5. Lemon Vinegar Cleaning Scrub- Soak lemon rinds in white vinegar for two weeks to help improve the smell and cleaning power of regular vinegar.
  6. Lemon Microwave Cleaner- Cut a lemon in half and squeeze juice into a microwaveable bowl half filled with water half with vinegar.  Add rinds to bowl and microwave for 4 minutes.  Wipe down the interior of the microwave with a cloth or sponge!
  7. Lemon cutting board scrub- After cleaning your cutting board- rub half a cut lemon over the surface of your cutting board to help further sanitize and reduce smells.
  8. Lemon Water- my Mom & Grandma are huge lemon water drinkers so I think I got it from them, but I LOVE lemon in my water. Bonus lemon juice helps detox your liver and is great for digestion!
  9. Lemon Essential Oils- I LOVE this one from Rocky Mountain Essential Oils. We have a diffuser by our bed we put 3 or 4 drops into every night. It’s also great for your skin, or to remove something sticky.
  10. Lemon Desserts- I made this Lemon Layer Cake for a baby shower recently and it was a hit!! Yum.            Off to shoot my first wedding of the season tomorrow! I hope you all have the best weekend. Rest well. – Lauren
